Synopsis

Penyakit kardiovaskular merupakan salah satu penyebab utama kematian di dunia dan menjadi tantangan besar dalam dunia medis. Berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan untuk memahami faktor-faktor yang berperan dalam patogenesis penyakit ini, termasuk peran sistem imun dalam proses inflamasi dan pembentukan trombosis. Salah satu mekanisme yang menarik perhatian adalah NETosis, yaitu proses di mana neutrophil sebagai bagian dari sistem kekebalan tubuh, melepaskan perangkap ekstraseluler neutrofil (NETs) untuk menangkap dan membunuh patogen. Namun dalam kondisi tertentu, NETosis yang tidak terkontrol dapat berkontribusi terhadap berbagai penyakit, termasuk aterosklerosis, trombosis, sindrom koroner akut, hingga gagal jantung. Buku ini hadir untuk memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai NETosis dan kaitannya dengan penyakit kardiovaskular, mulai dari mekanisme molekuler yang mendasari NETosis hingga dampaknya terhadap berbagai penyakit jantung.
